Earlier today, it was announced that Deb Alderson has been named President and CEO of Sotera Defense Solutions. Alderson will officially join the company on July 8th 2013.

Alderson previously worked at SRA International, joining the company in February 2012. She was first appointed Executive Vice President for Strategic Development and was later named Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the SRA in November 2012.

Her responsibilities included overseeing SRA’s four business units: the Civil Government Group, the Defense Group, the Health Group, and the Intelligence, Homeland Security and Law Enforcement Group.

Prior to joining SRA, Alderson served as President of the Defense Solutions Group at SAIC and was responsible for over 14,000 employees with a  focus on delivering command, control, computing and communications solutions, and systems engineering and integration, in support of federal agencies.

“We are excited that Deb has chosen to join Sotera and we believe that she will bring the energy and experience to drive Sotera forward to its next phase of growth,” Matt Cwiertnia, Chairman of the Board, Sotera Defense Solutions, said in a company press release.

“Sotera has an exceptional track record of delivering innovative solutions that address some of our nation’s most complex security challenges. I am looking forward to working with the team at Sotera to build on the strong platform they have created over the last several years,” said Alderson.

Alderson spoke with WashingtonExec earlier this year about where she expects growth in the industry, why there is “no such thing as the good old days” and the new LPTA environment.

Alderson, along with her husband and son, were previously featured in our “families of government contracting” series.
