The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has named Justin Poole deputy director. Poole began his career in 1991 with the Defense Mapping Agency, a predecessor to NGA. He takes the place of Susan Gordon, who was recently named principal deputy director of national intelligence.
Poole has held several management positions. Before being named deputy director, he was director of NGA’s Source Operations & Management directorate, where he worked with geospatial intelligence content and services to support national security priorities.
“The current GEOINT landscape is evolving at a rapid pace,” said NGA Director Robert Cardillo. “A deputy with Justin’s background, skill and drive is required for us to make the most of this opportunity.”
Gordon had been deputy director since January 2015.
“I know of no one more widely respected by those inside and outside of our community than Sue,” Cardillo said. “The depth and breadth of her knowledge, wise counsel and incredibly sharp mind have been invaluable to our team, our profession and our agency.”
