Technology expert Duane Shugars of MacAulay-Brown’s Enlighten IT Consulting Group spoke last week at the weeklong TechNet Augusta conference in Augusta, Georgia.

Shugars is known for his 10 years of work on distributed cloud and data fusion projects for the Defense Department and intelligence community. At the conference, Shugars discussed “Transforming Defensive Cyber Operations Infrastructure for the U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.” The talk addressed challenges the organizations face as they defend against cyber threats.

Shawn Justice, MacB’s senior vice president and general manager of Enlighten IT Group, and Tim Israel, director of cloud engineering, were also panelists at the conference, along with Jim Caggy, manager of Defense Department solutions for Amazon Web Services.

The panel discussed the cloud-based big data platform Enlighten IT Group originally developed for the Defense Information Systems Agency. MacB’s EITG recently partnered with Amazon Web Services to design a solution for improved infrastructure defense.

Justice said he was honored to present MacB’s “multitiered and scalable technology solution” during the event.

“We believe our rapid deployment framework addresses current data acquisition and cross domain hurdles, encourages cross-community collaboration, and offers real-time data aggregation as policies and procedures within the DoD and IC struggle to catch up with technology,” Justice said.
