The Chertoff Group, a global security firm, announced Sept. 15 the appointment of former Goldman Sachs Managing Director David Leach as a Principal. In this role, he will advise clients across all stages of the business lifecycle.

“The Chertoff Group, and our investment bank subsidiary Chertoff Capital, help clients engaged in security and risk management make smart investments for their future – whether they are  growing through acquisition, fine tuning operations to improve performance, or realizing a return on their hard work by selling their business,” Executive Chairman of The Chertoff Group Michael Chertoff said. “With years of experience originating and executing deals among innovative companies involved in the security and defense markets, David will be instrumental to scaling our well-established M&A practice.”

“I am thrilled to be teaming with David. We have a strong mutual trust formed by years of working together on multiple transactions,” Principal and Head of Investment Banking at Chertoff Capital Jason Kaufman said. “David brings unrivaled capability to our platform and will dramatically expand our reach into our focus sectors of defense, intelligence, security and government technology.”

“I can think of no better place than The Chertoff Group for this next chapter in my career,” Leach said. “The Firm’s culture of excellence, innovative business model that combines financial and business strategy, and global reach will enable me to deliver new capabilities to clients across the industry.”

Leach has worked within the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs, most recently as a Managing Director in New York City, for the past 13 years. He was the global sector captain for Aerospace & Defense (A&D) from 2008 to 2014.  Additionally, he was a member of the Global Industrials department and the Merger Leadership Group.  In 2006 and 2007, Leach worked in London as an Executive Director in the Industrials and Natural Resources department.  From 2001 to 2005, he was an Associate and Vice President in the Industrials and Mergers & Acquisitions departments in New York.

Leach graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and sociology.  He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Leach currently serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.
