The Chertoff Group, a global security advisory firm, has announced the addition of Greg Hill to the firm as a principal. He formerly served as chief of staff for the House Committee on Homeland Security.

The Chertoff Group, a Washington, D.C. based company with offices in New York, N.Y., San Francisco, Calif. and London England, provides strategic consulting, risk management and merger and acquisition advisory services.

Hill in his new post will advise clients on strategically growing and expanding the business in the national security marketplace while working with others to identify threats, reduce vulnerabilities and protect their most critical assets, both domestically and in the international arena.

“The Chertoff Group has a long-standing commitment of providing our clients with steadfast advisors who can help them navigate critical business decisions, as well as secure their business operations,” said Michael Chertoff, chairman and co-founder of The Chertoff Group. “As the former chief of staff for the House Committee on Homeland Security, Greg brings a unique understanding of today’s security threats, as well as a proven track record as a corporate executive and he possesses the business acumen to help our clients achieve their desired results.”

Hill will also serve as a partner of TCG Capital Partners — The Chertoff Group’s primary vehicle for investment activities.

“Greg’s deep policy background involving a broad array of national security issues – including border, transportation, immigration and cyber security – match the combined set of skills and trusted experience we offer at The Chertoff Group,” said Chad Sweet, chief executive officer and co-founder of The Chertoff Group. “His Homeland Security experience and thoughtful investment insight will be well received as we continue to identify strategic opportunities that help our clients achieve their full strategic value.”

Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Hill spent more than a decade in the public service arena in both the legislative and executive branches. Most recently, he managed congressional oversight for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He has also served as the chief liaison to House and Senate leadership, the executive branch as well as industry for the committee.

Hill also worked as chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul and earlier as chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce. In these positions, he served as chief advisor to the congressmen on all legislative, political and constituent matters.

“I am thrilled to be joining The Chertoff Group, where my business and investment services experience, as well as my government service, will be fully utilized on behalf of the firm’s clients,” Hill said.  “I have been honored to work for Chairman McCaul the last eight years and I am now equally honored to join The Chertoff Group.”

Hill earned his bachelor’s degree in History at the University of the South (Sewanee), studied German and Geopolitical Studies at the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft in Cologne, Germany and earned his master’s of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina, Darla Moore School of Business. He presence abroad includes living or working in the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, Switzerland, Singapore, Spain and Mexico.
