AT&T Government Solutions, a division of AT&T, Inc., has appointed former U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Chief Information Officer Chris Smith as Vice President, Technology. Smith comes to AT&T Government Solutions from Accenture Federal Services.

“Chris brings impressive depths of technology experience, especially in the areas of mobility, cloud, and cyber,” said AT&T Government Solutions President Kay Kapoor. “He is going to be an important engine of innovation for AT&T in the federal sector.”

At USDA Smith pioneered the agency’s migration to cloud, a transition involving more than 120,000 users, representing the largest implementation of cloud by a federal agency. Prior to his years at USDA, Smith held senior positions with the General Services Administration and the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, he has led multiple missions around the globe as a Joint Tactical Communications Officer during his military service in the Air Force, Air National Guard and Army National Guard.

“I’m honored and excited to join AT&T whose 130 years of innovation and commitment to excellence make it the premiere national provider of technology products and services,” Smith said.

At AT&T Government Solutions Smith will lead a team of 175 technologists in the development of a broad array of AT&T products and services focused on the unique needs of the federal market.
