The company formerly known as the SI Organization today changed its moniker to Vencore.
The name-change signals the latest in the Chantilly, Va. headquartered company’s moves to pave a slightly different path for itself marked by three acquisitions since 2010 and the addition of a new chief executive officer just last year.
Mac Curtis joined Vencore as CEO in May of 2013, in the midst of the company acquiring PhaseOne Communications in 2012, Applied Communication Sciences in 2013 and the most recent close of the acquisition of QinetiQ NA in July.
“Operating as Vencore allows us to build upon our shared heritages in the federal government and positions us for future growth as the market evolves,” Curtis said. “We strive to be our customers’ trusted partner by being innovative in our thinking and accountable for our actions. I am delighted to introduce you to Vencore.”
The new name is inspired by Latin words denoting respect, according to a company press statement released today.
Bob Kipps, managing director at KippsDeSanto & Co. showed an affinity for the company’s re-brand.
“I like the new name. It is catchy but more importantly clears up that Vencore is not an ‘IT’ company, but rather a specialist in deep advanced/high technologies,” Kipps wrote in an email.
