David Shive, chief information officer at the General Services Administration, has won the WashingtonExec Pinnacle Award for the AI Executive of the Year.

In its second year, the annual Pinnacle Awards luncheon was held Oct. 31 at the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner. The luncheon, which drew over 525 GovCon leaders and professionals, showcased exemplary GovCon leadership in industry and government.

Shive, who came to GSA in November 2012, oversees GSA IT and IT operations and budget. Before appointed CIO, he was the director of the Office of Enterprise Infrastructure. He’s also held the role of acting director of HR and FM Systems for the GSA chief financial officer and chief procurement officer offices.

Shive came to GSA from the District of Columbia government, where he was a CIO and was tasked with agency IT operations including financial systems, security and privacy programs, internal controls and compliance, strategic planning, enterprise architecture, and performance management and measurement programs.

Shive’s career began at Lockheed Martin Corp. in management and consulting roles overseeing large, customer-centric, IT organizations serving state and local, federal and international government customers.
