The finalists for WashingtonExec’s 2024 Pinnacle Awards were announced Sept. 20, and we’ll be highlighting some of them until the event takes place live, in-person Nov. 21.

Next is Ronald “Fog” Hahn, chief growth officer at Astrion, and finalist in the Business Development Executive of the Year, Private Company, category. Here, he talks about recent achievements, primary focus areas going forward and more.

What key achievements did you have in 2024?

In 2024, I focused on driving Astrion’s growth strategy to ensure we support our existing customers, position ourselves as a trusted partner for progress, and expand our portfolio. One of my recent achievements was supporting Astrion’s acquisition of Axient, which has strengthened our competitive edge in the mid-market. This acquisition has allowed us to expand our service offerings and bring in a talented executive leadership team, ensuring we continue delivering results with Impact for our customers and remain a leader in the industry.

In addition to the acquisition, I aided in Astrion’s growth through securing major contracts like the $910M Redstone Test and Engineering Services contract and the $3.7B TOS II contract. These are vital to supporting the U.S. Army and the Arnold Engineering Development Complex. By reinvigorating our business development unit through innovation and strengthened capabilities, we are now better positioned to address the evolving demands of government contracting and drive sustainable growth in the years ahead.

What are your primary focus areas going forward, and why are those so important to the mission?

Astrion helps customers make tangible progress every single day. Our primary focus is driving innovation and expanding our technological capabilities to deliver cutting-edge solutions, boost preparedness, optimize performance, and ensure mission success for our customers. We’re committed to achieving strategic growth, both organically and through acquisitions, in order to enhance our service offerings and maintain leadership in a highly competitive industry. This strategic approach allows us to meet our customers’ evolving needs.

Fun Fact: What is something about you that most people do not know about?

I am an avid scuba diver with more than 500 logged dives.
