Dave Levy
Vice President of U.S. Government, Nonprofit and Public Sector Health Care, Amazon Web Services
Dave Levy helps public sector customers ranging from government agencies to nongovernmental organizations, nonprofits and health care providers leverage cutting-edge technology to transform their organizations and fulfill their missions.
The cloud is empowering public sector organizations to improve how they serve their missions. And over the past year, Levy believes the pandemic accelerated digital transformation across public sector institutions by at least three to five years.
During the pandemic, Levy and his team helped the Department of Veterans Affairs transition to telehealth and telework. By leveraging cloud-based services, VA was able to scale up as needed, increasing from 10,000 telehealth appointments in February 2020 to 200,000 telehealth appointments six months later.
Why Watch
At the AWS D.C. Summit in September, AWS announced a new global program to support organizations working to enhance health outcomes for underserved or underrepresented communities, committing $40 million over three years. As part of this effort, Levy noted AWS will provide credits and technical expertise to help organizations and help develop solutions to advance health equity.
“We’re seeing impressive and inspiring work across the public sector as organizations harness data to promote more equitable and inclusive systems of care,” Levy said. “In the year ahead, I’m excited to see how government, nonprofit and healthcare organizations help society emerge from the pandemic stronger than before.”
