Jacobs has announced health security and health system emergency preparedness and resilience expert Dr. Nino Kharaishvili has joined the company’s Federal & Environmental Solutions team as principal of the Health System Resilience practice.

The company recognizes the challenges faced today with the COVID-19 pandemic require more resilient, holistic solutions to improve public health, said Jacobs Federal & Environmental Solutions Senior Vice President and General Manager Tim Byers.

“Dr. Kharaishvili strengthens our already impressive healthcare services team and brings a new depth of health security expertise, a broad-based understanding of emergency management, and a global consulting portfolio that will be a tremendous asset in leading our Health System Resilience practice,” he said.

The Health System Resilience practice combines from Jacobs’ expertise in policy development, legislation and planning for emergency preparedness, response and recovery. It also incorporates broader organizational/interagency coordination; comprehensive health care infrastructure services; logistics and supply chain management; and operational management and business continuity.

Kharaishvili brings to Jacobs more than 15 years of experience supporting the Defense Department, most recently the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Biological Threat Reduction Program, which focuses on pathogen and infectious disease surveillance, biosafety and biosecurity.

She has specific expertise in defining pathways for health care system sustainability and resilience, as well as designing and implementing various emergency management exercises aimed at improving public health emergency preparedness and response.
