    2019 Pinnacle Awards: National Security/DHS Industry Exec of the Year Cedric Sims, BAH

    Booz Allen Hamilton’s Cedric Sims on Oct. 31 won the WashingtonExec Pinnacle Award for the National Security/DHS Industry Executive of the Year.

    Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Cedric Sims is a senior leader of the company’s Justice, Homeland Security and Transportation business, and has won the WashingtonExec Pinnacle Award for the National Security/DHS Industry Executive of the Year.

    In its second year, the annual Pinnacle Awards luncheon was held Oct. 31 at the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner. The luncheon drew over 525 GovCon leaders and professionals, and showcased exemplary GovCon leadership in industry and government.

    Sims has more than 25 years of experience in areas of acquisitions and risk management, cybersecurity, capital planning, portfolio and program governance, and systems engineering geared toward homeland security missions. At BAH, he provide his expertise in cyber and analytics to further support those missions.

    Before his current role, Sims was president of Evermay Consulting Group, where he helped companies with strategic acquisition, capture and proposal services in delivering government services and technology solutions.

    Sims also established and led the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management from 2010-2012, where he improved the acquisition risk management process and promoted better accountability of an $18 billion portfolio of DHS acquisition investments. During his time in DHS, Sims also chaired the Centers of Excellence Council and served as executive director of the Enterprise Business Management Office in the DHS Office of the Chief Information Officer.

    Prior to joining DHS, Sims held other government leadership positions with the U.S. Secret Service, where he helped develop the agency’s first portfolio-based 5-year budget that aligned with agency, departmental and presidential objectives. He also oversaw interagency communication coordination at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, G8 Summit in Sea Island, and various United Nations General Assemblies.
