Vencore Inc. has been awarded a place on a U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command and Army Forces Strategic Command contract worth more than $3 billion, through its partnership in the QWK Integrated Solutions LLC joint venture, the company said.

The QWK join venture is one of several contractors chosen for the Army’s Design, Development, Demonstration and Integration program Domain 1 contract, which aims to provide the Army with rapid technology support for the mission of SMDC/ARSTRAT. QWK is a partnership between Vencore and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc.

The D3I contract has a 5-year base period of performance, with two consecutive 2-year options. QWK will compete for task orders to perform work in three core areas: operations; capability development; and materiel development, Vencore said.

Specifically, QWK will support SMDC/ARSTRAT as they provide trained and ready space and missile defense forces and capabilities in service to the warfighter and the nation, as well as research, test and integration support of space, missile defense, cyber, directed energy and related technologies.

Vencore has 3,750 employees and is based in Chantilly, Virginia.  The company recently made moves toward going public, and also won a stand-alone $4.6 million contract to help the Air Force with nuclear launch detection efforts.
