Sevatec Inc. announced Dec. 1 the appointment of Steven Smith to the company’s board of advisers. Smith brings Homeland Security Department and Transportation Department experience to Sevatec, having served as deputy chief information officer at both the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Federal Highway Administration.

Smith has previously served as the chief operating officer for the White House Communications Agency, the Defense Systems Agency and U.S. Army. Today, he serves as the senior manager of FirstNet supporting the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration in their its to establish a nationwide, interoperable public safety communications network to improve emergency response times.
