Salient Federal Solutions on Tuesday announced it added two individuals to its Salient Data Analytics Center of Excellence (DACoE). David Vennergrund will be the new Director of Predictive Analytics, and John Blatchford will be the new Director of Agile Business Intelligence.
Salient, based in Fairfax, Va., provides information, technology, training, engineering, and intelligence analytics services to agencies in the intelligence, defense, homeland security, cyber security and federal civilian markets. The two new business intelligence and analytics industry experts are set to the company’s growing emphasis on mission-focused data analytics.
Vennergrund will lead and expand innovations and best practices of the DACoE for data science and predictive analytics. He touts more than 25 years of IT management, development, and research experience and has led dozens of successful business intelligence and data mining-based efforts across the Federal government including budget forecasting for HUD and DOD; improper payment prevention for IRS, USDA, CMS, VA, DFAS, and OPM; and predictive modeling for DOI, EPA, US AID, and VA.
Vennergrund prior to joining Salient served as the Director of CACI International‘s (formerly Delta Solutions and Technologies, Inc.) Business Analytics Practice and built a service line that offers advanced business intelligence, big data solutions, data mining analytics, fraud detection, and predictive analytics. Vennergrund spent more than 14 years with SRA International Inc. where he founded a data mining center of excellence and a data warehousing practice.
He has also authored a slew of computer science articles on topics including: Software Development Lifecycle Models, Expert Systems, Data Mining, Fraud Detection and Data Fusion.
Blatchford will be tasked with providing innovations and best practices of the DACoE to include maximizing the value of information assets and mentoring support for all of Salient’s business intelligence projects. He has more than 25 years of technical management experience in the full system life-cycle of large volume billing, multi-terabyte enterprise data warehouse, and managing large business intelligence programs.
Blatchford joins Salient after serving as Senior Program Director at Pragmatics, Inc. where he managed the development of over 30 business intelligence solutions for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Business Intelligence Service Center (BISC) in support of resolutions, receiverships, and risk management for complex financial institutions. Blatchford from 2005 until 2008 established data infrastructure, production data ETL monitoring, change management and quality assurance organizations in support of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) mandated $1 billion financial restatement of Fannie Mae. This effort enabled Fannie Mae to restate three years of timely and accurate financial reporting, according to a Salient press statement.
“The appointments of David and John are important milestones that will enable our Centers of Excellence to produce significant contributions to apply results-driven data analytics for our customers,” said Bill Parker, COO of Salient. “Their expertise is a valuable addition to our DACoE team that is being led by Cindy Walker. We look forward to the immediate and lasting contributions they will make to benefit our customers and Salient as a trusted IT partner.”
