Earlier this morning the The SI Organization, Inc. (the SI) announced it will acquire QinetiQ North America Services and Solutions Group (QNA/SSG).
Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, QNA/SSG is a leading provider of differentiated, engineering services and solutions to the U.S government with 4,800 employees and a revenue of approximately $1.3 billion.
Mac Curtis, CEO of the SI said, “The acquisition of QNA/SSG accelerates the SI’s vision to be a leader in the design, development, integration and operation of complex, mission-critical information systems across the government. This transaction creates an opportunity to greatly scale our presence in market adjacencies such as DoD, DHS, NASA and federal civilian agencies. QinetiQ North America SSG has an exceptional, customer-focused team and we are excited to welcome them to the SI’s family.”
The transaction is anticipated to close in the second quarter of this year and is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the U.S.
“This is a smart strategic play by Mac Curtis. It allows the SI to expand into adjacent markets and brings QinetiQ a much needed buyer. Definitely a major move in the mid-market. As with every acquisition (and at the risk of sounding like a broken record), consistent messaging to the organization during the integration will be key to success. I believe Mac and his team have the depth of experience required and up to the task,” Mark HuYoung, Managing Partner of Northwind Partners, told WashingtonExec.
The SI Organization acquired Applied Communication Sciences, a provider of telecom carriers, power utilities and commercial enterprises to the government sector in May 2013.
Mac Curtis joined the SI as CEO in May 2013. Read more about Curtis and his leadership philosophy on WashingtonExec.
