feature stemWashingtonExec presents a Mid-Year Review of the top stories we’ve covered thus far. STEM news is covered as much as possible due to its importance to the region. We recently held a roundtable on the topic at our inaugural STEM council meeting. Ed Swallow, Northrop Grumman’s Vice President for Business Development in the Federal and Defense Technologies Division,  and the council’s Chairman, led a discussion on ways education foundations and industry can partner to increase the STEM pipeline and better meet the industry demand for STEM high school graduates.

So far this year, we’ve covered and hosted a myriad of events. One of those events included a discussion led by Bill Hoover, President and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS. He served as the keynote speaker on the topic, “What are the Secrets to Firms that will Survive and Thrive in this Market?” Having been a leader in the information systems and services market sector for more than 30 years, Hoover is an expert on maintaining longevity in industry.

Not only does WashingtonExec cover leadership announcements in the government market space, but we’ve made it a point to get to know executives more personally by interviewing their families as well. We spoke with the Downer family, all of whom have careers in the government contracting industry here in the greater Washington region. We also interview the Alderson clan. Deb Alderson recently made the news with announcement of her move from  SRA International to Sotera Defense Solutions, where she will serve as President and CEO.

We of course covered the many other executive changes in the industry. For more on our Mid-Year review, click here.
