The Loudoun Impact Fund has announced the winning organizations of its inaugural competitive grant cycle. A total of $50,000 has been awarded to five nonprofit organizations in Loudoun County to support Loudoun nonprofits, as well as programs that address the wellbeing of children and youth; specifically in the areas of mental health and substance abuse.

The Loudoun Impact Fund is a new giving circle run by the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia that is exclusive to Loudoun County citizens, corporations and service organizations. It was established to invest in Loudoun County to promote education, the arts and the environment, and to support the needs of Loudoun families, children and youth.

“We were so pleased with the caliber of Loudoun nonprofit organizations,” said John Wolff, member of the Loudoun Impact Fund and board member at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. “The experience has provided an education about the needs of our community while providing a platform through which we can make truly impactful grants.”

The largest grant of $20,000 has been awarded to Loudoun Cares for their nonprofit support center and another $30,000 was awarded to four nonprofit organizations with programs that address the wellbeing of children and youth.

    These organizations include:

HealthWorks for Northern Virginia – $5,000
To support programs in which youth experiencing anxiety, depression, self-image, familial stress or bullying issues will build self-awareness and self-confidence through a variety of expression exercises to decrease feelings of isolation, lowering risk of substance abuse.

    Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice/LAWS – $10,000
For the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center, providing support and therapy to ease the trauma of child victims of abuse or sexual abuse and their non-offending parents.

    Loudoun Youth – $10,000
To support programs that engage the youth of Loudoun County in positive experiences that cultivate a sense of well-being, confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and connection to their community.

    NAMI Northern Virginia – $5,000
To support the expansion of programs for parents of children living with mental illness that help parents understand and support their young children living with serious mental illness while maintaining their own wellbeing.
