Last week, KippsDeSanto & Co. held its second annual “The Community’s Got Talent” (TCGT), a battle of the bands style fundraiser supporting the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation (CIAOMF) and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). The event was attended by over 350 senior executives, as well as members of the Intelligence and Special Operations Forces Communities. By the end of the night, the event raised more than $300,000 in donations.

The evening’s performances featured eight of the national defense community’s most talented bands and celebrity judges including: Tish Long, Sean Joyce, Mike Morrell and Stephanie O’Sullivan. Immediately following the battle of the bands was the finale performance by Ronnie Dunn, formerly of Brooks & Dunn, who was joined by Skunk Baxter, an alumnus of Steely Dan and of the Doobie Brothers.

“As a leading investment bank for Aerospace/Defense, National Security and Technology firms, KippsDeSanto was especially proud to produce this year’s The Community’s Got Talent event,” said Bob Kipps, managing director, Kipps DeSanto & Company. He went on to say that the event was a wonderful gathering of Defense and National Security Sector leaders, a generator of over $300,000 in support for two very worthwhile causes, and that the event was lots of fun.  He added, “We appreciated everyone’s generous support for this year’s successful event.”

Established in December 2001, the Memorial foundation provides educational support to the children of CIA officers killed in the line of duty. In May 2006, the Foundation’s Board of Directors voted to expand its mission to include providing educational support to the spouses of CIA officers killed in the line of duty, and the children and spouses of officers who die on active duty as a result of accident, illness or other causes.

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation is a top-rated nonprofit organization that supports the military’s special operations forces and their families through three programs:

    1. College Scholarships for the surviving children of fallen Special Operations Forces
    2. Family Services, including educational counseling
    3. Wounded Special Operations Forces Support
