Unisys Wins Contract for GSA Database and Middleware Systems Operation, Cloud Transition

The General Services Administration has awarded a contract to Unisys to operate database and middleware systems for the Federal Acquisition Service.

“This new task order expands Unisys’ relationship with GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service into new areas of innovation,” said Venkatapathi Puvvada, the company’s group vice president for civilian agencies. “We look forward to helping the agency cut costs and to potentially build a detailed roadmap for migrating its database systems to the cloud.”

Unisys will consolidate and upgrade database and middleware systems for FAS as part of the cost-plus-award-fee task order. It will also assess moving the systems to a database-as-a-service cloud, so the GSA would not need to maintain its own database hardware and software.

The contract is worth up to $28 million over five years if all options are exercised.
