Although best known as founder and chairman of Information Management Consultants, Inc. (IMC), Sudhakar V. Shenoy is much more than a Fortune 500 CEO. He’s a mentor, teacher and, as of recently, he’s one of the Top 25 Most Influential People in the Washington DC high-tech industry.
IMC is a high-tech consulting firm for the DC area. It offers technology solutions for the government, commercial, and scientific sectors, making sure to cater to each client’s precise mission. Started in 1981 along with his brother and Louis G. Matrone, IMC has since earned a slue of awards and recognitions including the Golden Hammer Award, which is given out by the vice president. The company also was listed in the Top 20 Ones to Watch list and won a GCN Industry IT award for being the Top Fast-Growth Firm.
And like his company, Shenoy himself has been widely recognized, mostly for his leadership as a CEO. In 2004 he was awarded the Executive of the Year by the Northern Virginia GovCon Council, the Professional Services Council, and Washington Technology. The year prior Shenoy received the Lord Fairfax distinction for Fairfax County’s Dranesville District for outstanding community involvement and volunteerism. In 2002, Bio-IT World recognized Shenoy as a Bio-IT Champion for IMC’s work in bringing together information technology and the life sciences.
Because of his many accomplishments and well renowned name, Shenoy frequently lectures and makes radio appearances, usually to discuss the impact and future of different technology trends. Shenoy also teaches a course at George Mason University he calls “From Geeks to Gazillionaires.”
A University of Connecticut alumni, Shenoy was inducted into the UConn School of Business Hall of Fame in 1996 and now sits on that school’s board of advisers. In addition to his MBA from UConn, Shenoy received a B. Tech. with honors in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and then a master’s in electrical engineering UConn.
“I met Sudhakar Shenoy in the late ’90’s at Sam & Harry’s during a networking event. He was gracious, inquisitive, and sincerely interested in my participation in the tech community. Over the years, he remained just as thoughtful. He soon became a mentor to me as well as a friend. Sudhakar, who is so well-connected and respected in the executive world all over, always had time to talk with me, to offer sound advice, to listen, and to care. He has been a huge influence in my success as an entrepreneur and in my continuous charity work.” –Pamela Sorensen of Pamela’s Punch
