Mark your calendars for the Advanced Technology Academic Research Center’s (ATARC) annual Federal Big Data Summit set for June 19 through 20 at the Ronald Reagan building in Washington, D.C.

The event, titled “Solving Real Problems with Big Data,” responds to a request in March from President Barack Obama that senior government officials examine the way that Big Data collection, analysis and use implicates the economy, privacy and public policy.

One of three fed summits planned for this summer, the conference continues the dialogue and will likely center on challenges federal agencies have faced in their attempts to address the Presidential mandate, according to the event page.

Michelle McKenna-Doyle the Senior Vice President and chief information officer for the National Football League (NFL) will keynote the two-day  big data summit.

Slated to serve as the government chair for the event is Todd Myers, a lead global compute architect, at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and Gaurav Pal, the director for strategic programs at Smartronix, is set to serve as industry chair for the ATARC-hosted event.

The next two summits, the Federal Cloud Computing Summit and the Federal Mobile Computing Summit, are set for July 8 through 9 and August 19 through 20, respectively.
