Octo Consulting Group announced Jan. 25 that it has acquired the SeaPort business unit of Aquilent, including operation of SeaPort-e. SeaPort-e is the Department of Navy’s electronic platform for acquiring support services in 22 functional areas including engineering, financial management and program management.

“We are delighted to be working with the Navy on the SeaPort-e system and ensuring that the government has continued operational and modernization support for one of its core acquisition systems,” Octo CEO Mehul Sanghani said. “When we were contacted by Aquilent about this opportunity, they were able to quickly ascertain and vet our technical abilities based on significant past performance with similar system efforts we are currently performing for some of our other customers. In addition and perhaps most importantly, we were able to demonstrate to both Aquilent and the government customer our ability to scale to assume operational control of this core mission system and seamlessly bring Aquilent’s business unit employees into the Octo family with zero downtime for the SeaPort-e system and program.”

Octo will be responsible for supporting the SeaPort-e portal which provides a standardized, efficient means of soliciting offers from amongst the 2400+ SeaPort-e IDIQ multiple award contract holders that includes a diverse population of large and small businesses.

The Navy Systems Commands (NAVSEA, NAVAIR, SPAWAR, NAVFAC and NAVSUP), the Office of Naval Research, Military Sealift Command and the U.S. Marine Corps compete their service requirements amongst 2,400+ SeaPort-e IDIQ multiple award contract holders.
