At the 2016 K-12 STEM Symposium, Dr. Evan Glazer of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Kritika Singh of Malaria Free World, and Scott Settar of Technology and Engineering Education and STEAM Integration spoke about opportunities in STEM within the Fairfax County Public Schools. Ed Swallow of The Aerospace Corporation moderated the panel and let each speaker explain their background and why they think STEM is important.

The three speakers also answered questions regarding their inspirations for being involved in the local STEM community, why students should be interested in STEM, and advice for students excited about STEM. Other specific topics included the average lifetime earnings of STEM graduates, STEM rotation in elementary schools, and mentorship programs, camps, and internships for students.

The Annual K-12 STEM Symposium will be held March 25, 2017 in Herndon, Virginia. The largest K-12 STEM Symposium in the National Capital Region is a free, all-day forum that equally engages local parents, educators and children. Sign up by visiting www.stemsymposium.com.  Sponsorships are still available.
