Sonny Kakar, the president, founder and chief executive of Sevatec Inc., enjoys construction projects.
The entrepreneur last month consolidated and moved the company’s previously disjointed 11,000 square feet to 2815 Old Lee Highway in the Merrifield area of Fairfax County.
Kakar opened up to WashingtonExec in a March interview and told us he leveraged his mechanical engineering degree to undertake the design, contracting and selection of furniture for the building that is now set to serve the employees of his IT support services firm.
“The creative process of designing and envisioning the most appropriate workspace for our firm was an immersive undertaking. Our space is very, very high-tech and contemporary. It kind of has a “Google” feel with open space, lots of glass, high ceilings, concrete floors, etc. This office represents who we are in the industry: an employer of choice; a partner with government, and a high-tech/high-value solutions provider,” Kakar said in the interview.
After 18 months of construction, Sevatec opened up its doors April 17 to exhibit its newly constructed headquarters during a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house.
The new location comprises 22,000 square feet and is owned by SGS Properties, LLC in Falls Church, Va.
The April grand opening gives the company and its 200 employees, what Kakar deemed, room to grow.
