Threat protection firm Damballa today announced Dr. Sameer Bhalotra has been selected to join the company’s board of advisors. Dr. Bhalotra, who is also Chief Operating Officer of cyber security firm Impermium, will lend his guidance to Damballa as the company expands to meet rapidly increasing demand for its advanced threat protection technology.
“Sameer has dedicated his career to cyber security, leading development of policy and legislation to protect critical infrastructure and government networks, including the first-ever national code of conduct for Internet companies to mitigate botnet infections,” said David Scholtz, CEO of Damballa. “His background is truly unique in its breadth of experience, ranging from academic to government to IT infrastructure to startups.”
He added, “We are honored to have him on our board of advisors. We look forward to his valuable guidance as we continue to expand our offerings to serve both the private and public sector, including key areas of critical infrastructure that have become highly attractive targets for the most sophisticated attacks.”
Dr. Bhalotra most recently served as the Obama White House’s Senior Director for Cyber Security. He advised the President regarding the nation’s top priority cyber security initiatives which include protecting U.S. commerce and critical infrastructure, cyber security legislation, the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, and the federal government’s cyber security budget.
“Today’s most advanced threats are incredibly adept at bypassing prevention. They pose a major risk to our critical infrastructure including financial services, energy, manufacturing, defense, and IT systems,” said Bhalotra. “Damballa has one of the most highly regarded technologies to discover hidden threats, and I look forward to working with the team to expand their reach.”
