Accenture Federal Services announced that is has secured a $2 million, one-year from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to partner with the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) to continue improvements on case management tracking and increased reporting efficiency to further streamline the agency’s investigation, review and approval processes. Specifically, Accenture will focus on the system that tracks data critical to the nation’s meat and poultry food supply.

Accenture will leverage the AssuranceNet, a system the company developed in 2005 to streamline controls and record data efficiently, to enable FSIS to retire three legacy systems and consolidate all data into one, agency-wide enterprise solution.

Ed Meehan, who leads Accenture’s federal civilian agency portfolio, noted the financial challenges facing the federal government agencies like FSIS in transforming operational standards.

“Continued improvements will help FSIS drive operational efficiencies, improve performance, and help protect our nation’s critical food supply infrastructure,” he said.

FSIS is the public health agency under the U.S. Department of Agriculture responsible for ensuring that the nation’s supply of meat, poultry and egg products is safe and correctly labeled and packaged.
