    AMERICAN SYSTEMS Buys SAIC’s Testing and Evaluation Unit

    Government IT services contractor, AMERICAN SYSTEMS, has signed a deal to purchase SAIC’s test and evaluation unit to bolster its current testing, scientific and engineering services.

    “AMERICAN SYSTEMS identified the test & evaluation market as a key element of our strategic plan several years ago, and while we have made significant inroads into that community, most recently with our award of a DISA/JITC contract, this acquisition strengthens our T&E portfolio and opens up opportunities with new customers and markets,” said Bill Hoover, AMERICAN SYSTEMS president and chief executive officer.

    “It’s a great fit with our culture and our current capabilities, and I’m confident this will be a successful acquisition.”

    The move comes as part of a strategy to split SAIC into two companies; one for federal customers, the other to provide science and technology support for national security, healthcare and engineering organizations.

    About 300 SAIC employees will join AMERICAN SYSTEMS under the terms of the acquisition, which will close in mid-October.
