    Dave Vennergrund

Vice President of AI & Data Insights, GDIT

Dave Vennergrund’s biggest recent achievement was the improvement and cloud hosting of an accurate Skin Lesion Classifier ⏤ GDIT’s AI solution that uses deep learning image models to accurately classify skin diseases to help primary care providers rapidly screen for skin cancer.

In addition, he led the publication of a cloud-hosted solution to accelerate the development of AI solutions.

“Dave Vennergrund has led the charge at GDIT around the right and ethical use of AI/ML for our customers and company,” said Tom Oliver, GDIT’s vice president of digital consulting and solutions. “He is a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the federal government as they seek better strategies to exploit their data in service to critical missions. I’m excited and proud to see Dave achieve this very significant industry recognition.”

    Why Watch

In 2023, Vennergrund and his team are heavily focused on exploiting the power of AI, machine learning, large language models and generative AI to meet mission needs across varied use cases. Those include rapidly classifying adverse events, finding objects of interest in images and video, providing domain-specific Cchat capabilities and turning unstructured data into valuable insights.

In addition, they are tackling the distributed data problem through a new data architecture that allows data domains to retain data ownership yet provide that data to others across the enterprise through a data mesh.

“We are living through an exciting and somewhat disconcerting era,” Vennergrund said. “AI’s capability is growing exponentially and will positively impact all work ⏤ if we can use it safely and responsibly.”
