Peraton announced that the chief medical officer of its Global Health and Financial Solutions sector, Dr. Colin Chinn, has been appointed to a 4-year term on the Defense Department’s Defense Health Board.
A retired U.S. Navy rear admiral, Chinn is the former Joint Staff surgeon and served as chief medical adviser to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The Defense Health Board is a federal advisory committee to the secretary of defense that provides independent recommendations on matters pertaining to DOD health care policy and program management and health research programs.
Since joining Peraton, Chinn has leveraged his experience in operational medicine, public health, global health security, TRICARE and the Defense Health Agency to identify emerging and future trends in healthcare.
He is currently focused on helping customers within the departments of Health and Human Services and Veterans Affairs and DHA promote a better health care experience, identify ways to reduce health care costs and improve quality throughout the health care life cycle.
He served over 38 years in the Navy, retiring as a rear admiral in 2019. During his time on active duty, Chinn served in multiple clinical, academic, research, operational and executive medicine leadership roles.
