J.C. Dodson
Vice President & Chief Security Officer, BAE Systems Inc.
After serving over a decade as BAE Systems plc’s global chief information security officer, J.C. Dodson was appointed in 2020 to a newly established role combining all elements of industrial, international and cybersecurity, into a single risk-management portfolio supporting U.S. and overseas operations.
“Our motto: ‘We protect those who protect us,’ says it all,” he said. “I’m very fortunate to be part of a company that values security as a core, business-enabling component of its culture.”
Dodson’s background managing advanced technology programs during a 22-year Air Force career, and early on with BAE, makes him unique in the CSO role. His focus on data-informed decision-making and the concept of “security as a sensor” are providing new insights for the company.
Why Watch
Dodson’s role represents an emerging operating model for CSOs in complex, global organizations. The integration of traditional corporate security and cybersecurity provides a more comprehensive view of enterprise risk, and enables highly integrated risk mitigation strategies.
“J.C. has brought creative insights to our new, integrated security team,” said Alice Eldridge, senior vice president and general counsel for BAE Systems Inc. “He’s leveraging his broad expertise and driving impactful, business-oriented security solutions for our company and our customers.”
