Advanced technology, science and engineering solutions firm ECS has been chosen by the Naval Information Warfare Center’s Defense Health Information Technology Division to lead the agency’s Federal Health Information Technology Infrastructure Service Modernization contract.

The revamp aims to drive greater efficiency, ease and access to medical care for the nation’s more than 9.4 million active duty personnel, military retirees and military families worldwide.

The 4-year, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract has a total value of $116 million.

“We are honored to lead the implementation of the D2D, which will support U.S. military members and their dependents worldwide,” said Jim Kier, ECS senior vice president for cyber solutions and digital modernization. “ECS has been integral in the design, development, and fielding of DHA’s Desktop to Datacenter transformation initiatives. We are proud to support this next phase of modernization for military healthcare.”

ECS will lead the migration of legacy IT infrastructure to a newly consolidated system known as MedCOI, the medical community of interest. The company said it will also address complex privacy and cybersecurity concerns.

“As ECS continues to innovate within the areas of infrastructure service and health information technology, we look forward to serving NIWC and DHA in this critical modernization endeavor,” said George Wilson, president of ECS.
