Cognosante has hired Jamil Hermes as chief growth officer to lead the company’s business development and capture teams.

Cognosante, which provides information technology solutions and services for public health agencies, is in the midst of an effort to expand its solutions portfolio, market coverage and customer portfolio.

“Jamil’s knowledge of the federal, state and local government markets will position us well to meet our customers’ emerging needs and further our shared goal of healthcare modernization and improvement of overall citizen wellness programs,” said James Gordon, Cognosante president.

Hermes has more than 20 years of experience in business development, technology leadership and program management. Most recently, he was senior vice president and chief growth officer at OptumServe during a period of considerable growth that saw him leading an expansion into federal markets.

“I am thrilled to join this exciting team as we pursue the next phase of the company’s growth,” Hermes said. “Cognosante’s innovative spirit, thought leadership and technology expertise offer great value to federal, state and local entities. I am looking forward to joining their efforts to achieve meaningful change in the healthcare industry.”

Hermes holds a master’s degree in computer and information science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. His undergraduate degree in business administration is from the University of La Verne.
