Government health IT solutions and service provider Cognosante has hired James Gordon as president, a new role for the company.

Gordon joins Cognosante from Maximus Federal, where he served as division president and was tasked with the divestiture of the General Dynamics Information Technology portfolio acquired by Maximus Corp.

Before Maximus, Gordon spent 11 years at GDIT. As vice president and general manager, he provided executive leadership to over 20,000 health and health IT professionals and led P&L divisions exceeding $1 billion in annual revenues.

“I am incredibly excited to join Cognosante,” Gordon said. “This role provides an opportunity for me to apply my healthcare and leadership experience in a new capacity, focused on operational and strategic excellence. Together with my colleagues, I look forward to supporting Cognosante’s mission of transforming the U.S. healthcare system.”
