Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) produced a 56-page guidebook to branch more partnership between the agencies on clinical health exploration.

Written by six authors from both VA and DoD, the VA-DoD Collaboration Guidebook for Healthcare Research is published online and provides practical tips and information for researchers.  Topics in the handbook include identifying collaborators, submitting research proposals and understanding rules for data security.

This book marks 20 years of VA and DoD collaboration in healthcare. These two organizations have in the past worked together with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, traumatic brain injuries, amputation, prosthetics, sensory loss, infectious disease and a variety of many other issues.  A project that was completed that was very successful was the DEKA prosthetic arm, which was funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
