The Aerospace Corp. elected former Rep. William Hurd of Texas to its board of trustees on June 11.
Hurd is chief strategy officer at CHAOS Industries, a defense technology startup focused on detection and monitoring solutions for national security and critical infrastructure.
Aerospace President and CEO Steve Isakowitz said Hurd’s background in technology, national security and public policy will help the company support its mission in an increasingly contested space domain.
“His experience on Capitol Hill, in the intelligence community and with the innovator economy will provide valuable insights as we advance warfighter readiness and strengthen the nation’s superiority in an increasingly dynamic space environment,” Isakowitz added.
Hurd served three terms in the House and was a key voice on technology issues. He chaired the Information Technology Subcommittee under the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and served on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Before Congress, Hurd spent nine years with the CIA.
He serves on the boards of ICON Technology Inc., a construction tech company; Personal AI, a software platform; the Center for European Policy Analysis; and the Council on Foreign Relations.
