    Marc Madison, Koniag Government Services

    Marc Madison

Vice President of Strategic Pricing Administration, Koniag Government Services

Marc Madison’s career includes over 20 years of federal pricing experience working for several Fortune 500 government contracting companies. He joined KGS 13 years ago to support an exceptional, growing company. He stays because he feels like part of a family. It is an exciting ride to be an instrumental part of a company nearing the $1 billion milestone.

In the complex analysis, modeling and reporting requirements of strategic pricing, Madison considers the importance of numbers and also intangible elements that may affect a strategic pricing outcome. For government contractors in an election year, it is critical to consider the tendencies of different administrations, the current economic environment and even turbulent world events, all of which have an impact on the release and make up of proposals.

“I come from Philadelphia and am very sports oriented and competitive,” he said. “I use that competitive spirit to develop winning pricing models that result in new contract wins which allow the company to better support our Shareholders, the Alutiiq people of Alaska. This makes me feel that I’m part of something bigger and more important than numbers.”

    Why Watch

In 2024, Madison will complete the task of standardizing pricing structures for all of KGS’ subsidiary companies. While each of KGS’s business entities has their own capabilities, juggling the individual pricing models takes time and resources. By standardizing the pricing models, Madison will realize efficiencies and cost reductions, culminating in a faster completion of higher-quality proposals.

Growing the Strategic Pricing department is a key goal for 2024. Madison was the first and only member of the pricing team when he joined KGS. Since then, the company has added more staff to meet increasing demands. This expansion is crucial because KGS saw a 35% rise in proposal submissions over the last year, with more double-digit growth expected in the future. Developing reliable pricing models, strategies and schedules to ensure the team supports different parts of the company perfectly is important as KGS grows.

“Marc is an innovative thinker who blends his pricing expertise with the community mission of KGS,” said Kevin Wideman, KGS CEO. “As our company grows, Marc and his team will continue to be instrumental, ensuring our pricing strategies continue to allow us to support our customers’ mission success.”
