    Cynthia Bennem

Vice President of Homeland Defense, VMD Corp., an Xcelerate Solutions Company

VMD, an Xcelerate Solutions Company, screens and security checks passengers at 11 airports to safeguard the traveling public. VMD Corp.’s Kansas City International Airport team broke records in June and July, with over 1 million passengers screened and cleared through their security gates.

“Protecting domestic and foreign travelers is an immense responsibility; we are laser-focused on securing critical infrastructure,” said Cynthia Bennem. “Our success reflects the strength of our incredible team, and I’m excited to contribute to Xcelerate’s growth in aviation security. I’m committed to fostering innovation and leadership development, and we’re already seeing the rewards of our team’s hard work with even greater opportunities on the horizon.”

The Federal Aviation Administration estimates an average of 2.9 million passengers fly in and out of U.S. airports daily. Even more impressive is that this summer, there was a dramatic increase in passengers departing airports.

“Our primary goal is to ensure air travelers’ safety by screening passengers and baggage to prevent any potential threats,” Bennem said. “We oversee the operation of cutting-edge screening technologies, from advanced imaging body scanners to automated threat recognition and explosive detection systems. We are committed to staying ahead of evolving security threats.”

    Why Watch

VMD recently added eight Montana airports to its Screening Partnership Program. Its SPP support includes Kansas City International Airport, Atlantic City International Airport and Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport. While this was a team effort, the expansion of VMD’s work is a testament to the excellence in execution and commitment to keeping airways safe.

“Cynthia’s leadership and dedication to our aviation security operations have been instrumental in VMD’s success,” said Michael Brokaw, chief delivery officer at Xcelerate Solutions. “Her commitment to innovation and excellence sets a high standard for our team. I am confident that under her leadership, we will continue to achieve new milestones in safeguarding our nation’s air travel.”

Fun fact: Bennem loves to travel and spend time with her family, thriving on adrenaline-pumping experiences. Whether hiking across a suspension footbridge 100 yards above a Canadian gorge or snorkeling at the edge of a 700-foot sea wall in Tortola, she’s always up for challenges that push boundaries and inspire others to follow her lead.
