“Microsoft has created an environment for our employees to be empowered to share their personal stories, allow grace in learning D&I concepts, and make meaningful professional connections to truly create social impact,” said Javier Vasquez.
His most recent achievement is around the company’s commitment to inclusion and diving deeper into hiring practices. The work they’ve done to increase opportunities for diverse talent to lean into a leadership role has been so impactful to the organization.
When Vasquez looks across the organization, he is particularly proud of what they’ve accomplished and the new perspectives implemented this past year with a strong and diverse leadership team.
“Javier’s exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to creating a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace across Microsoft’s Federal organization is truly inspiring,” said Candice Ling, senior vice president at Microsoft Federal.
“As Microsoft Federal’s D&I Executive Sponsor, Javier prioritizes his people to foster a culture of inclusivity, drive actionable change, and ensure every voice is heard. Through his incredible efforts over his 22 years at Microsoft, Javier has earned the love and respect of both his team and our government customers. I feel honored to work alongside him and grateful for all that he does to drive positive change within our organization and for our industry.”
Why Watch
In 2024, Vasquez and his team are heavily focused on increasing the surface area of experiences to drive more opportunities for inclusion of the company’s diverse talent pool. They want as many folks to experience working and understanding different cultures, backgrounds, experiences to include talent with neurological and physical disabilities.
“I think it is important to meet our talent where they are,” Vasquez said. “Everyone comes from different backgrounds. I think it’s important to have curiosity around everyone’s background. Cultivating your talent’s unique lived experiences creates a more vibrant and successful organization. It is critical to look for non-traditional approaches to finding talent to make your organization the best it can be.”
