    Gil Smith, Philips

    Gil Smith

Senior Director of Government Health Program Development, Philips

As an executive with years of government experience, Gil Smith’s mission revolves around establishing Philips as a pioneer in health care technology and informatics. Recently, the team introduced the Military Health Continuum, a visual roadmap detailing the health care trajectory of military members and their families throughout their lives, unifying MHS/DHA/VA into one cohesive health enterprise.

Armed with this insight into timely and location-specific care delivery needs across agencies, the team efficiently rolls out technology and informatics solutions, enhancing seamless care and uplifting patient outcomes.

“Under Gil’s leadership, Philips is forging into new areas of federal and state government, expanding access to care for underserved communities, veterans and military service members,” said Kim Mingo, government business leader at Philips. “His innate ability to balance growth while maintaining operational excellence is building a strong foundation to deliver innovative health care solutions to our government partners across the care continuum.”

    Why Watch

In 2023 and beyond, the team is focused on revolutionizing care delivery for expeditionary forces and allied parties through pioneering remote monitoring and treatment solutions. These innovative capabilities extend the clinical reach from the garrison to the battlefield and even further, aiding in humanitarian or natural disaster efforts.

“We need to embrace advancements in informatics technology and empower the care providers behind the data,” Smith said. “Adoption of interoperable digital capabilities is facilitating collaboration across care settings and automating clinical insights to help care providers make pivotal decisions throughout the patient journey. Getting health informatics right, and making sure the data is handled with the requisite security, is the key to the future of medicine.”
