Vice President, Contracts and Management Office, GDIT
Lisa Lax’s biggest recent achievement was launching a career development framework for GDIT’s Acquisition Workforce. It includes training and professional development opportunities, which will result in trusted advisors who are front-line business partners who identify, communicate and mitigate contractual risk.
In 2023, Lax and her team are heavily focused on customer engagement to include further developing relationships with customer counterparts to ensure alignment on industrywide matters. They are also committed to building an agile and empowered workforce supported by talent programs and employee engagement. A key tenant of this focus is leveraging internal mobility and encouraging cross-functional team building to broaden leaders’ expertise.
Investing in your people should be a leader’s No. 1 priority, she said.
“A company’s acquisition workforce, whether contracts or subcontracts professionals, are a competitive advantage when you have a team that are knowledgeable trusted advisors,” she said. “They can address contract performance issues proactively before they impact you financially or reputationally, while subcontractual relationships can bring you future business when your company is seen as a valued partner.”
