The finalists for WashingtonExec’s Chief Officer Awards were announced March 17, and we’ll be highlighting some of them until the event takes place live, in-person May 10.
Next is CEO finalist in the Private Company: Annual Revenue >$100M & <$500M category Sunny Singh, president and CEO of Aeyon. Here, he talks about recent key achievements, proud organizational moments and more.
What key achievements did you have in 2022/2023?
Aeyon has had a very successful past couple of years. A particular achievement that I am proud of is our acquisition of Manufacturing Technical Solutions last February. The acquisition expanded Aeyon’s capabilities in the growing space sector by adding to our portfolio advanced engineering expertise and a deep familiarity with NASA space centers.
The integration of MTS was crucial to Aeyon winning a NASA Financial Support contract as part of a joint venture in partnership with financial management company MDW LLC. By leveraging MDW’s strength in the planning, programming, budgeting and execution process and MTS/Aeyon’s space sector experience, joint venture MM Technologies was awarded the $516.9 million performance-based NASA Financial Support Services contract in December 2022.
What are you most proud of having been a part of in your current organization?
Aeyon was formed by the joining of four small businesses with complementary capabilities, customers and cultures — Artlin Consulting, Sehlke Consulting, MTS and Marick Group ⏤ into one fully integrated and cohesive growth platform: Aeyon. I could not be prouder of our employees and their ability to navigate the challenges and opportunities involved in merging the four companies.
As a unified team, we have grown from 70 employees and $20 million in annual revenue to 720 employees and over $200 million, and have become a mid-market leader in intelligent automation, winning 60 new government contracts over the past year.
What are your primary focus areas going forward, and why are those so important to the future of the nation?
Aeyon believes the future of innovation lies in automation. It is our mission to help clients automate mundane and laborious tasks so their valued subject matter experts can focus on the deep, mission critical work, empowering them to make the most meaningful use of their time and the most informed decisions possible.
With skilled employees able to spend more time on high-value challenges, government agencies can do even more for the people they serve, and Aeyon will stay focused on advancing technical outcomes to lead the automation of government.
Which rules do you think you should break more as an industry leader?
Don’t be afraid to take on the big challenges and/or assume risk that can, if managed properly, create transformative opportunities and fuel rapid growth! It is no secret that there is a huge push for massive technological advancements in today’s day and age. But in the government contracting business, many leaders are risk-averse, limiting opportunities to make substantial leaps forward into new domains of innovation.
At Aeyon, we approach this hesitation differently. We prioritize meeting customers where they are and identifying the strongest return on investment for initial implementations to help agencies build familiarity and trust with these systems, paving the way for powerful transformation.
