    Joseph Norton, LMI

    Joseph Norton

    VP, CTO, LMI

In the last two years, LMI envisioned and operationalized the Forge, a technology innovation with the capacity to explore, prototype and develop solutions rapidly to address customers’ tactical and strategic challenges. LMI’s transition to a for-profit organization with new partnerships led by Declaration Partners in 2022 further reinforced the Forge capability.

At its core, the Forge is a group of innovators and technologists supported by dedicated research and development resources to develop and realize concepts at the pace of need. It has created over 35 prototypes and multiple products, including LogSmart ⏤ an end-to-end suite of logistics solutions; Beacon ⏤ a data management and analytics platform; and TalentIgnite ⏤ an AI-enabled workforce engagement platform.

These solutions span agile and continuous software development, applied machine learning and modeling and simulation, integration with sensor and internet-of-things devices, and digital business transformation, with customers and users central to the process.

“Dr. Joe Norton’s leadership has been influential in the successful evolution of the Forge™ and LMI’s growth into a next generation solutions provider,” said Joshua Wilson, LMI executive vice president of service lines and technology. “He has an invaluable and unmatched ability to lead our innovators to drive results for our clients at the pace of need.”

    Why Watch

Throughout 2022, LMI created momentum to use technology and innovation as an agent for business change and operational effect for its customers. The company launched target initiatives to apply emerging technology, connected early-stage commercial products with government use cases and leveraged its applied research and partnerships with academic institutions and labs to further thought leadership.

“I challenge our teams to use technology and innovation to inspire employees and customers to transform operations and culture,” Norton said. “Together, we explore ideas while embracing failures as opportunities to learn quickly, pivot decisively around tangible demonstrations, and gather feedback on the effects of our ideas. With that mindset, technology generates tremendous value for helping organizations achieve their missions.”
