Senior Vice President & Human Resources Executive, Health Group, Leidos

In a labor market where turnover is a challenge, Leidos has seen attrition drop by more than 3 percentage points this year. Jo Ann Bjornson attributes that success to the great work of her team in instilling a sense of urgency around retention, in understanding market trends and conditions and gauging the retention drivers for employees.

The team has placed a lot of focus in partnering with leaders to deploy the tools and resources at the local level to address needs quickly and adjust when needed.

“Jo Ann is passionate about the critical role that HR plays in enabling and supporting both the business and employees to be successful,” said Maureen Waterson, Leidos chief human resources officer.

    Why Watch

“Our vision is to be the business that sees and develops the potential in people,” Bjornson said.

To do that, Bjornson and her team need to provide more insights into the costs and benefits of upskilling, to better recruit and pipeline internally for business needs and to focus leadership on their role as developers of future talent. To help support these efforts, Bjornson and her team are building tools to assess talent and to help individuals and their leaders bridge the gaps between career aspirations and business needs.
