Mike Uster
CIO & Senior Vice President, ManTech
One of Mike Uster’s most notable recent achievements is delivering and implementing a complete zero trust architecture IT environment for ManTech’s internal and external customers.
“One of the key milestones in ManTech’s more than 53-year history was achieved in November 2021 when Mike and his team moved the company and more than 14,000 users into a secure zero trust environment.,” said ManTech Chairman, CEO and President Kevin M. Phillips. “Additionally, while the competition for highly skilled technical talent is fierce, Mike’s attrition rate is 8.5%, which is extraordinary.”
Uster and his team brought all IT users (over 14,000), systems (more than 500) and assets (over 18,000) into an all-encompassing zero trust architecture. This included all development enclaves, business systems, data center workloads and six cloud service providers without disrupting customers. Now, they are focusing on new, future-forward IT initiatives aimed at organizational transformation and AI capabilities.
“Launching a verifiable zero trust architecture in 2021 across ManTech’s entire IT ecosystems including data center workloads, business systems and developer cloud environments was a daunting digital platform transformation,” Uster said. “Collaboration with ManTech’s customers on our transformational strategy and lessons learned proves that a zero trust architecture transformation is wholly possible at scale.”
