Dan Antal joined Rolls-Royce in early 2021, after nearly 10 years with Leidos, where he held various leadership roles within the legal department, including general counsel of several operating divisions and a rotation as corporate secretary.
In his current role, Antal is general counsel for Rolls-Royce North America, as well as the Rolls-Royce global defense business with oversight of legal, contracts, ethics, security and internal audit.
“The general counsel function is most effective when it’s ingrained in the daily operational cadence of the business,” he said. “This allows my team to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues before they arise, to ensure we are doing things the right way, and thereby giving our business the confidence and peace of mind it needs to operate effectively.”
Why Watch
Rolls-Royce Defense is at a pivotal point in its growth strategy, as it pursues several key initiatives over the next few years that will help shape its future. Antal is heavily involved in shaping the future of the workplace for his team as the company embraces the concept that “work is an activity, not a location,” while maintaining a sense of team cohesion and continuing to provide high-level support.
He is also involved in Rolls-Royce’s focus on sustainability to achieve net zero carbon in operations by 2030 through ongoing advances in electrification, small modular nuclear power stations and microgrids that will help reduce the world’s carbon footprint.
“It’s an exciting time to work for Rolls-Royce,” Antal said. “…(And) it’s exciting and gratifying to know that the work we do plays an integral role in the company’s growth strategy and also helps serve our military customers around the world.”
