Global security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin has named Christian Marrone senior vice president of government affairs, succeeding Robert Rangel, who will retire later this year.

Currently vice president of government affairs, Marrone has played an active role in many of the most critical issues facing the company. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin in 2019, he served as a senior presidential appointee in the Bush and Obama administrations.

Marrone was chief of staff of the Department of Homeland Security for former Secretary Jeh Johnson and also held a number of senior positions within the Defense Department, including special assistant to then-Secretary Robert Gates, and acting assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs.

“Christian is a seasoned leader with a strong history of national security expertise and bipartisan relationships,” said Jim Taiclet, chairman, president and CEO of Lockheed Martin. “His selection showcases the strength of Lockheed Martin’s leadership succession planning.”

Rangel’s efforts “have always been guided by a commitment to our men and women in uniform,” Taiclet said. “We thank him for his service and wish him the best in retirement.”
