Riverbed has tapped former Cloudera executive Shaun Bierweiler to serve as senior vice president for public sector, reporting to Chief Operations Officer Dan Smoot.
Bierweiler most recently served as president of public sector at Cloudera Government Solutions, Inc. Before Cloudera, Bierweiler was president of Hortonworks Federal, Inc. and vice president of U.S. public sector at Hortonworks. He has also held leadership roles at Red Hat and Raytheon.
Bierweiler said he’s pleased to join Riverbed, a business with a long history of providing government agencies with mission critical technology and software.
“I’m looking forward to helping our Public Sector customers maximize visibility and performance of their networks and applications, and ensuring their employees can stay productive whether they are working in an office or remote,” he added.
Smoot said Bierweiler brings to the company “deep domain expertise in the public sector . . . strong customer engagement; and a passion for the complexities and possibilities of the technology we’re building here.”
“He also has an exceptional ability to manage through change – and guide others through it as well,” Smoot added. “As our federal customers adjust to the new and evolving realities of an ongoing pandemic and an increasingly mobile workforce, Shaun will be able to apply that clear-eyed thinking and judgment to solving their challenges.”
Bierweiler was named to WashingtonExec’s ‘Top 30 Public Sector Leaders to Watch in 2020″ list.
