ManTech International is making “big investments” in its work supporting the U.S. space mission.
“We have the capabilities, and we’re investing big time,” said Rick Wagner, president of Mission, Cyber & Intelligence Solutions. “I can’t disclose all the details, but I’ll give you two words: SpaceX and BlueOrigin. Stay tuned.”
Wagner and Matt Tait, president of Mission Solutions & Services, spoke about the company’s work in the space domain in a recent video. ManTech, they said, is readying to support interplanetary human space travel.
“It has never been a more exciting time to be in space since man first walked on the moon,” Tait said. “Now, space is a warfare domain, and we need to rule that domain because of its importance to national and homeland security.”
ManTech supports almost every aspect of space including satellite, transmission, launch and ground systems — and Tait said the firm is investing “big time” in furthering its already strong capabilities.
“The most important thing we are doing right now is independent mission assurance,” he said. “This is where we work with the developers to make sure they hit all of their milestones as a part of the space launch. And then we sit side by side with our customers in places like Vanderburg, California, and right here in Cape Canaveral to make those missions go off successfully.”
It’s “intensely detailed work” that leverages a model-based system engineering approach in which physical platforms can first be tested with their digital twins that have been created with leading edge technology.
The two also discuss ManTech’s ongoing work on its Space Range solution, which will be used to train cybersecurity workers in protecting ground stations, communication centers, satellites in orbit and other systems on which the U.S. space effort relies.
