Huntington Ingalls Industries has appointed Bharat Amin as executive vice president and chief information officer, a new role for the company.

Starting Jan. 1, 2020, Amin will establish the company’s IT and digital strategic direction with a focus on cybersecurity capabilities. He will lead corporate IT governance and provide functional oversight in collaboration with the business units.

Amin will report to HII President and CEO Mike Petters.

“In today’s business environment, the importance of keeping our network communications safe cannot be underscored enough,” Petters said. “Our business relies upon the safety and security of how and what we communicate to our customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. In recognition of the critical importance of these efforts, I am announcing the appointment of Bharat.”

Amin will join HII after serving as vice president and CIO for Newport News Shipbuilding division since 2014. He has held leadership positions at BAE Systems, including as vice president and CIO for BAE Systems’ Land & Armaments sector.
